The winter holidays, while beloved, can be a stressful time for people. Given the effort required to be grateful, jolly and all-around festive, there may be some hesitancy for consumers who don’t want to jump into the season too soon.
If you’re an IGC owner, you may have heard grumblings from shoppers who aren’t particularly excited about seeing winter holiday decorations and products before Halloween. At least that’s the observation of C.L. Fornari, a.k.a. the Garden Lady. In a recent blog post, she pushes back on the idea that the holidays hit the shelves before they should. After all, it takes a ton of work to merchandise and prep a garden center for the end-of-year shopping spree. If customers want live trees, ornaments and craft supplies, they’ll have to put up with a bit of joyful creep.
In order to commemorate that work, Fornari has written her own lyrics to the classic tune “The 12 Days of Christmas.” Here's a sample:
“On the eight of November when shopping for a tree
You see Christmas shelves rebuilding
Christmas crafts a brimmin
Christmas gifts displaying
Five golden things!
Four bins of Narcissus bulbs,
Three racks of ornaments
Two wreath supplies and
A living Christmas tree.”
It’s a delightful nod to the tough work an IGC puts into making this season special for your customers. Check out the full song lyrics on her post.
