This month, we’re taking a look at garden centers that decided to broaden their horizons with supplemental, food-based businesses — from coffee shops to farm-to-table dining and everything in between. Garden Center designer Stephanie Antal visited Maria Gardens, an IGC in the Cleveland, Ohio, area with an ice cream store on the premises of its North Royalton location. The Pine Cone Ice Cream Shop at Maria Gardens offers a variety of locally made flavors, as well as floats, milkshakes, sundaes and more. Services like these allow garden centers across the country to provide extra reasons for their customers to visit and help drive foot traffic through their stores.
