Unemployment rate drops to 3.6% in latest job report

In April, the U.S. economy added 236,000 jobs.

According to the latest federal jobs report, the U.S. economy added 236.000 jobs in April. Over the same span, the unemployment rate dropped to 3.6%.

"Our outlook and my outlook is a positive one — is a healthy one — for the U.S. economy for growth for the rest of this year," Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said Wednesday, per the report. 

The report indicates that construction, health care and services were key areas for hiring. It also says the economy is growing at a 3.2% rate, above the pace set at the end of 2018.The total of 236,000 jobs added in April also surpassed both the yearly average of 186,000 added jobs per month and the expected total for April of about 185,000.
