Monrovia is once again partnering with garden centers across the country to promote the importance of pollinator-attracting plants with its 2025 Bee a Winner pollinator plant giveaway.

The giveaway program, which offers garden center customers a chance to win a free plant, is easy for both retailers and their customers. Garden centers must first register for the program. This year, there are two giveaway periods to best fit regional timing and key shopping days. Check the registration website to sign up by your region’s deadline, either Feb. 28 or March 14.

After registering, garden centers must place a $2,000 minimum order of Monrovia’s pollinator-friendly plants to receive 10 free additional plants to use as customer prizes. The orders include posters with a QR code that links to a customer entry form, ready-to-link online entry form for your website, digital graphics and other marketing tools. Participating garden centers are encouraged to create a fun in-store display using the pollinator plants and their communication channels to promote the program.

For a chance to win, local shoppers simply scan the QR code to access the entry form. During the process, they are given the option to join their local garden center’s email list, giving the garden center an easy and effective way to strengthen customer relationships and communicate with engaged consumers. Monrovia makes the process even easier by managing all the entries and choosing local winners specific to participating garden centers.

To create even more buzz this year, shoppers will also have a chance to win Monrovia’s Grand Prize nationwide Instagram giveaway for a $500 shopping spree at their selected Bee a Winner location. To enter the grand prize giveaway, shoppers are asked to take a picture of their local garden center’s in-store display or a Monrovia plant, then tag the garden center’s location or social media handle. The picture will be shared on Monrovia’s Instagram stories, reaching more than 120,000 followers, giving participating garden centers even more recognition.

Each year, the Bee a Winner program grows as gardeners focus more on attracting pollinators to their gardens.

"Our research shows that interest in attracting pollinators continues to expand. Gardeners are searching for beautiful, climate-appropriate plants that create diversity in the landscape and draw pollinators in," said Katie Tamony, chief marketing officer at Monrovia. "Attracting hummingbirds is the latest pollinator trend, with some even calling hummingbirds the next glamor animal."
