Wisconsin garden center owner Ron Ebert dies

Ebert, 57, operated Ebert's Greenhouse Village with his brother until his unexpected death on Aug. 26

Ebert's Greenhouse Village on Fox Road in Ixonia, Wis. will be closed Tuesday, Sept. 1 in observance of funeral services for co-owner Ron D. Ebert, who died Aug. 26 at Watertown Regional Medical Center.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ixonia, with visitation hours on Monday, Aug. 31 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown. Additional visitation will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be conducted at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetary in Ixonia.

Ebert was born September 29, 1957 in Watertown. According to his obituary, Ebert operated Ebert's Greenhouse Village with his brother Mark. He enjoyed basketball, volleyball and jogging and he was well-known for his strong faith and kind heart. Ron also enjoyed cheering on the Green Bat Packers and Milwaukee Bucks. 

Launched in 1976 as a vegetable farm, Ebert's Greenhouse Village was founded by Ebert's father Milton and eventually expanded into the full-service produce and ornamental store seen today. Ebert's Greenhouse Village currently offers fall mums and asters, various perennials, roses and several fruits and vegetables.
