Penfield, N.Y., garden center closes

According to auction documents, the entire inventory of Grossmans Home and Garden will be sold off.

Grossmans Home and Garden in Penfield has closed its doors.

With rumors of a potential closure swirling for months, auction signs were posted in front of the storefront on Route 250 this week.

According to a listing posted by Reynolds Auction Co., their company was hired to sell the entire contents of the business, including the store's remaining inventory, shelving and other store fixtures and trade equipment. Liquidation sale dates have been set for March 21 and 22. An auction to sell off the business' remaining assets has been scheduled for March 24.

Penfield Supervisor Tony LaFountain said he had understood that the business has closed permanently.
