Digging In Gathering LLC — a Michigan-based organization founded in 2017 and dedicated to advancing the interests and professional development of container gardening professionals — announced its official formation of Digging In Association and designation as a 501c6 tax-exempt organization.
The designation, granted by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), marks a significant milestone in the association’s mission to enhance industry standards and foster collaboration among its members.
“We are thrilled to have formed the association and achieved nonprofit status. We look forward to the expanded possibilities this brings for our members,” said Andrea Gasper, founder and executive director of Digging In Association. “This designation represents a significant step forward in our commitment to serving the professionals in the container garden community.”
This status, which applies to business leagues and other similar entities, allows Digging In Association to operate as a nonprofit organization focused on promoting the common business interests of its members. The association will leverage new opportunities for growth and support, enhancing its ability to offer valuable services, meaningful connections, resources and advocacy to drive positive change within the industry.
The association will also expand its support for its 200-plus members from the United States and Canada by increasing the range of programs offered to enhance professional growth and industry standards.
The organization's board of directors includes President Cindy Funes, Vice President Leanne James, Secretary Mary Starnes and Treasurer Leigh McGonagle.
