De Vroomen Garden Products, a wholesale supplier of Dutch bulbs and other horticulture products, has announced its new Agapanthus ‘Black Buddhist’.
This compact, deciduous perennial features dark, sturdy stems and upright, strap-shaped leaves. Agapanthus ‘Black Buddhist’ features intensely dark-purple, trumpet-shaped flowers that may appear almost black when the sun shines on them. This variety thrives in full sun and blooms from July through September.
‘Black Buddhist’ is ideal for borders, container plantings and cut flowers; it is also exceptionally deer and rabbit resistant as well as an effective bee, bird and butterfly attractor.
‘Black Buddhist’ performs well in USDA Hardiness Zones 7 to 10 and reaches a height of 32 inches and width of 24 inches at maturity. De Vroomen’s team recommends providing this perennial with moist, well-drained, organic soil and 1 inch of water per week until established, then reducing the amount to 0.5 inches per week.
De Vroomen has included this new variety, which is available to order now for delivery starting Feb. 1, 2025, and many others in the company’s Spring 2025 Wholesale Growers catalog.
Professional grower customers, garden center retailers and landscape contractors can learn more about this variety and discover more of De Vroomen’s product offerings in the digital catalog and at devroomen.com.
