
AmericanHort has announced its lineup of educational sessions, workshops and production tours at Cultivate’19, which will take place July 13 – 16, 2019, in Columbus, Ohio.
This year’s workshops include:
Biocontrols Workshop: The How-to's of Quality Control and Application Methods
Attendees of this workshop will learn about applying
CareerUP – Setting You Up for Future Success
This all-day workshop will teach attendees to help improve communication and team dynamics to help progress in their careers. Speakers include Leslie Halleck, Halleck Horticultural, LLC; John Kennedy, John Kennedy Consulting; and Neil Glatt, GrowTheBench.
Creating A Modern Garden Center Workshop
This peer-to-peer workshop will take place at the Franklin Park Conservatory and will feature retail experts sharing their inspiration, plans, hurdles, and how they stay relevant to today's consumer. The workshop will be moderated by Katie Dubow of Garden Media Group, and speakers include Tammy Behm, Maypop Coffee & Garden Shop; Chris Satch, The Sill; Martina Mensing-Mecklenburg, Verband Deutscher Garden-Centre e.V.; and Jessie Jacobson, Tonkadale Greenhouse.
It’s All About the Workforce
This workshop is for those in the industry who source, recruit, onboard and train employees. The workshop will cover H2A Reform, recruiting and engaging seasonal labor, and creating a culture of safety in the workplace. Speakers include Patrick Berschauer, Safety and Wellness Manager at Smith Gardens, Inc. plus a panel discussion on immigration labor with expert attorney Chris Schulte of CJ Lake LLC and Ann Margaret Pointer and Josh Viau attorneys with Fisher Phillips.
The Art of Giving Great Service Workshop
This workshop will teach attendees the steps to providing great service and how to handle customer complaints. Elnian Gilbert of ZingTrain will be the trainer for this event.
Cultivate’19 will also feature several industry production tours that will take place on Saturday, July 13. Tours available are:
Garden Retail Tour: featuring Berns Garden Center, Delhi Flower & Garden Center and White Oak Garden Center, No. 93 on Garden Center magazine’s 2018 Top 100 list.
Greenhouse Production Tour: featuring Green Circle Growers, Corso’s Perennials and Corso’s Greenhouse.
Nursery Production Tour: featuring Willoway Nursery, Ohio Agricultural Research
New this year is the Innovation Tour which will allow attendees to tour the Scotts Miracle-Gro headquarters and learn how they bring new consumer horticultural products to market and to share their organic nutrient research.
