Sacramento, Calif. — The California Association of Nursery and Garden Centers (CANGC) announced the launch of the California Grown Nursery Marketplace, a free resource that allows growers and buyers to connect, share inventories, search for plants and learn about California grown nursery stock. The Nursery Marketplace is an online network designed to make buying and selling plants easier, faster and more efficient. The website is available in English and Spanish
For growers, the Nursery Marketplace is a means of reaching more retail and landscape customers with specific information on the variety and quantity of plants they have available for sale. Growers can upload plant inventories and update them as frequently as needed. They can also share information about their company with nursery buyers who visit the website.
For buyers, the Nursery Marketplace is a quick and easy way to locate the specific nursery plant inventories for sale by California nursery stock growers. The website allows buyers to see which items, what container size and how many each grower has in stock and then find the supplier’s contact information to make a purchase.
The website also contains a database of nursery plants searchable by either botanical or common names. Users can find information about thousands of plants including water needs, sun exposure requirements and zones.
The project was developed with funding from the California Department of Food and Agriculture 2016 Specialty Crop Block Grant Program and created by the CANGC. The CANGC encourages members of California’s nursery industry to check out the new website and share this free resource with fellow members, businesses and customers.
Individuals can visit, explore or sign up for the California Grown Nursery Marketplace at www.cagrownnurserymarketplace.com. The interactive website allows for growers and buyers to easily sign up and begin sharing plant lists or locating specific plants.
