Burpee introduces 2025 plant varieties

The new lineup for 2025 includes Burpee Garden Sown tomatoes and peppers, vegetables and fruits, and flowers.

Burpee is introducing this year’s curated collection of new varieties, including vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers.

The new lineup for 2025 includes:

Burpee Garden Sown tomatoes and peppers

The 2025 Burpee Garden Sown exclusive collection enables gardeners to sow tomato and pepper seeds outdoors in the garden. After six years of research, these seeds will grow and ripen at the same time, or even earlier, than indoor sown seeds and transplants. This breakthrough allows gardeners to grow from seed even if they do not have the time, space or lighting to start seeds indoors.

‘Groundswell’ Beefsteak TomatoThis massive European heirloom-style beefsteak ripens on high-yielding plants, with an extended season of sizable broad-shouldered fruits with heirloom fragrance and flavor. A versatile tomato, it offers up savory, smooth, meaty flesh for sandwiches, burgers or salads.

‘Rain Drops’ Cherry Tomato: Fruit develops in dense clusters up to the first frost. This easy-growing, direct-sowing hybrid starts producing just as early as indoor-sown seedlings and garden center transplants and resists cracking.

‘The Groundfather’ Sweet Italian Pepper: Italian long sweet “corno”-style 6-inch peppers ripen from green to red. Heavy yield on healthy plants that can be picked green for stuffing or red for roasting and salads.

‘Sow Sweet’ Snacking Pepper: This petite red pepper offers sweet flavor, easy growing and early ripening. Yields lots of extra-crisp, nearly seedless peppers, perfect for snacks, salads, dips, garnishes and salsas.

‘Lavaland’ Hot Pepper: ‘Lavaland’ is hotter than a cayenne, but more medium-hot. Plentiful 4- to 5-inch Thai peppers grow on 30-inch plants that quickly transition from green to dark red to “ready-for-picking” brown.

‘SuperTom!’ Beefsteak Tomato: Orders for ‘SuperTom!’ come with a special serrated spoon for scooping the meaty flesh.

‘Mini-Me’ Watermelon: Juicy, flavorful melons on sturdy, vertical vines ascend trellises and other supports. It weighs around two pounds with deep red flesh.

‘Sweet Karoline’ Kallard: A new and novel variety crosses kale and collard greens, evoking the best of each. These plants produce large, thick, textured leaves with flavorful tastes, especially in cooler seasons.

Burpee’s 2025 new flower collection

‘Van Glow’ Sunflower: This sunflower stands 4 to 5 feet tall, with each stem topped by a bloom of bright-yellow petals circling an orange ring around a green center. The ‘Van Glow’’s strong root system and sturdy stalks withstand wind and rain.

‘Supernova’ Nasturtium: Abundant flowers in sunset tones rise above emerald green foliage, with petals lasting all spring and summer. Use spicy-peppery blooms in salads, as a garnish or chopped and blended into butters and cheeses. This flower is deer and rabbit resistant.

‘Queeny Lemon Peach’ Zinnia: Excellent for cutting, this AAS Ornamental Winner features 3.5-inch inch blooms in a rosy-yellow color range that gradually transition to a warm pink.

‘Royalty’ Morning Glory: Purple velvety flowers garnished with maroon jewel-tone and pink centers sparkle amid rich green foliage. Vigorous vines grow up to 6 to 7 feet and are studded with a cloak of 2- to 3-inch blooms.
