Arber, a suite of organic biologicals, has announced its launch on Earth Day (April 22) via press release. Arber’s plant-wellness line stops pests from feeding and reproducing, activates the natural immune system of plants to prevent disease and boosts plant growth — without the harmful side effects of synthetic pesticides. Arber wants plant-enthusiasts to transition away from decades of chemically intensive gardening.
Approved as biopesticides, Arber’s line is based on natural materials such as microbes (e.g. bacteria) and plant extracts without any use of synthetic chemicals pesticides. Because plants have immune systems that need boosting and gardeners have pests that need solutions, Arber holistically addresses plant problems like bugs, fungus, mold and mildew all while increasing plant health, soil health and root regeneration. All products have undergone third-party testing compared to chemical and organic equivalents. Likewise, all perform and are sold at scale in commercial agriculture applications.
Arber is backed by 15 years of product research in the sustainable, bio-based solutions space by Dr. Pam Marrone, the former CEO and founder of Marrone Bio Innovations (2006-2020). Dr. Marrone spent nearly four decades developing and launching biological alternatives to chemical products. Dr. Marrone launched Marrone Bio Innovations in Davis, California, in 2006 and led its IPO on the NASDAQ stock exchange in 2013. She is one of only 22 women in the US to have ever taken a company public. Today, she’s backing Arber.
Arber is the only organic biologicals company in the home garden space to launch in the last few decades. It’s particularly relevant as there are documented side-effects from the use of herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers on people and the planet:
- Reports show that there are only 60 years of farming left if soil degradation continues. 25% of the earth’s surface has already degraded — which could have fed 1.5 billion people;
- Of the 30 most common pesticides: 12 are linked to birth defects and 16 are potential carcinogens;
- There’s a huge decline in songbirds linked to common insecticides;
- Neonicotinoid pesticides are implicated in killing bees.
Arber will begin taking pre-orders on April 22 at www.growarber.com and will be found at The Sill, Aubuchon Hardware, Stein's and select independent garden centers at launch. Arber’s product line: (1) Plant Food, (2) Bio Insecticide, (3) Bio Fungicide and (4) Bio Protectant ranges from $21.99 to $24.99 for a 16-oz concentrate.
