Robert A. Harris
Rob Harris serves as a legal advisor to business clients regarding contractual and other relationship matters that are critical to their operations, including ways to avoid or minimize the risks associated with litigation. When disputes arise, he represents businesses in litigation, arbitration and mediation proceedings. He also serves as an arbitrator and mediator.
Since 1982, Mr. Harris’ legal career primarily has been spent in a law firm environment, where his practice has encompassed contractual, employment and construction matters.
From 2005-10, Mr. Harris served as general counsel, chief administrative officer and corporate secretary to OpHedge Investment Services, LLC, a multinational hedge fund administrator that serviced some of the industry's largest and most complex hedge funds and asset managers. At OpHedge, Mr. Harris had ownership of all legal matters for the company and its three international subsidiaries, and was a member of the senior management team that in five years took the company from start up to a successful exit liquidity event.
In early 2011, Mr. Harris returned to private practice with the insight gained from his five years’ corporate management experience.
Since 1990 Mr. Harris has provided services as an arbitrator and mediator. He is a panel member for the American Arbitration Association, the American Dispute Resolution Center, Litigation Alternatives and ADR Select. Mr. Harris served for three years as chair of the Connecticut Bar Association's Dispute Resolution Section. In 2004, Rob was honored with the "The Honorable Robert C. Zampano Award for Excellence in Mediation," named after a Connecticut federal judge renowned for his dispute resolution skills.
Mr. Harris is the author of Golf Dispute Resolution, a blog devoted to the intersection of golf and law (www.golfdisputeresolution.com).
Mr. Harris received his undergraduate degree from Haverford College and his law degree from the University of Virginia.
