1. HEUCHERA ‘RUFFLES ‘N TRUFFLES’ PPAF
This dark leafed Coral Bells is the perfect addition to the shade lineup with its incredibly dense, curly and ruffled leaves. With age, the curls loosen into waves. Under each mahogany brown leaf, there are rich raspberry undersides, which are revealed under the ruffled edges. Medium pink flowers complement the dark foliage in midsummer.
2. PANICUM VIRGATUM PRAIRIE WINDS™ ‘APACHE ROSE’ PPAF CPBRAF (PROVEN WINNERS®)
Grasses have been making a comeback, and just in time for this trend is this new native to North America switch grass. Coming in at only 4 feet tall, ‘Apache Rose’ has gray-green leaves and an upright, columnar habit. Its most unique feature is its rose-colored flower panicles, hence the name ‘Apache Rose.’ Typical green-leaved Panicum tend to have tan or cream flowers. Hardy to zone 4.
3. VERONICA MAGIC SHOW® ‘WHITE WANDS’ PPAF CPBRAF
If you tried last year’s new Speedwell introduction, ‘Enchanted Indigo,’ you’ll find the same great performance but now with a white flower color. Well-branched flowers take up the top half of the 14- to 16-inch-tall plant, meaning that when it is finished blooming, you can sheer it back and enjoy the healthy foliage. Growers will appreciate that just like ‘Enchanted Indigo,’ ‘White Wands’ blooms without vernalization, although it does benefit from it. Hardy to zone 4.
