In July 2022, the monarch butterfly was officially listed as an endangered species, and conservationists and climate activists are raising warning bells. According to National Geographic, Western monarchs have declined by more than 99% since the 1980s, and Eastern monarchs have declined by an estimated 80%. However, there are awareness campaigns that can help restore the declining monarch population.
