These 'green' products will grow plants - and customers

In today’s “green” world, the ranks of environmentally conscious customers grow by the day. These are people who are doing their homework – and who are intent on finding items with as much bite as bark. Consequently, the independent garden centers that deliver “real deal” eco-friendly fertilizers, plant foods and composters are the ones destined to earn destination status. Here are five products that could help the cause.

What is it? The Aerobin 400 Composter from Exaco Trading. Why should you sell it? This state-of-the-art composter is insulated and will keep working in near-freezing conditions. The thermal insulation in the Aerobin conserves heat, leading to rapid breakdown of the biomass and works efficiently year-round, even in cooler regions. There is no need to turn the biomass, and it is pet- and rodent-resistant. It has little odor and can kill noxious weeds and seeds. The Aerobin is easy to use - just open, drop and close. After a short time, fertile compost is produced, which is easily accessed via the lower side door. Where to find it? www.exaco.com

What is it? UBIOGROW’s natural plant growth formula. Why should you sell it? As the before/after photo suggests, UBIOGROW’s concentrated natural plant food produces strong, healthy plants fast. Less than 1/4 teaspoon of UBIOGROW has been shown to contain over a billion bacteria—most of which are beneficial to plant growth.  The beneficial bacteria are good for plants because they out-compete most disease-causing organisms. They also decompose toxic materials and plant residues and help build soil structure, which improves the soil’s water-holding capacity. Where to find it? www.ubiogrow.com

What is it? Liquid plant food from Daniels Plant Food. Why should you sell it? This organically based liquid concentrate provides a sustainable alternative to traditional chemical fertilizers – plus it comes in head-turning packaging. In fact, DPF has designed several garden center marketing tools. Where to find it? www.danielsplantfood.com

What is it?
The liquid soil and plant treatment line from Surya. Why should you sell it? These fertilizers contain naturally-occurring beneficial microbes that break down organic matter in the soil and maximize nutrient uptake in plants, producing healthy plants quickly. Where to find it? www.suryagrow.com

What is it?
The Earth Harvest Pro line from ICT Organics. Why should you sell it? The line is USDA Organic Program-compliant and contains organic fertilizer, fungicide, pesticide, soil conditioners and liquid corn-gluten meal.  Where to find it? info@ictorganics.com
