The Wicked Plant Shop, located in Kingsport, Tennessee, is a small boutique IGC that hosts a ton of annual events. The IGC hosts a monthly Ladies Night Out event from March to October with a themed plant craft and complimentary cocktails and snacks. For the kids, there are veggie pot make-and-takes, themed dinosaur gardens (fairy gardens are so last season …), terrariums and edible herb gardens, plus birthday parties and even an annual Easter egg hunt. Each event gives the staff a chance for one-on-one coaching with the guests, helping them in their gardening hobby. – Jane Hall, co-owner, The Wicked Plant Shop
1. Co-owner Alyssa Hall, right, isn’t afraid to get down in the dirt when assisting customers during a terrarium workshop event.
2. Employees at The Wicked Plant Shop get involved in the DIY too. During the holidays, the IGC offers pre-made succulent Christmas trees ready for customers looking to gift the perfect arrangement.
3. Plenty of guests filed into the IGC for its “Dinorrariums” workshop, which the IGC has hosted multiple times because it’s so popular.
4. & 5. There were plenty of smiles as giddy patrons assembled their Jurassic-themed terrariums with help from staff. The event is quite popular, and it’s a big draw for boys, which helps get them interested in plants and gardening at a young age.
6. Prior to the event, Alyssa Hall snapped some photos and shared a TikTok tutorial for followers wanting to learn how to make their own Dinorarrariums. For more inspirational workshop ideas, follow them on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
7. & 8. The Wicked Plant Shop is also a pit-stop for party-goers, and hosts many birthday bashes as well as workshops.
9. During a Ladies Night Out in October, the IGC hosted a Halloween-themed event where customers created their own succulent pumpkins while sipping on hard apple cider.
10. & 11. Another event featured a class where attendees could create natural wall mounts using bark pieces, sheet moss and plants. The workshop included materials for plants and two mounts — one for attendees and one they could gift — plus the crafting instructions, along with complementary Bloody Marys.
