What’s trending on social media?
Most social media platforms are fleeting. Tweets and Instagram posts get lost in the streams of feeds, and Facebook only saves top posts from the past. That’s what makes Pinterest especially unique. Pins are saved on categorized boards, preserving their relevance. Pins are searchable based on topic, and don’t “expire” after a certain period of time like other social media posts. One example of this is Stutzmans Greenhouse & Garden Centers’ innovative idea to promote gardening and healthy eating in their “This Year: Resolve to Grow” pins that appeared each day during the month of January. Each includes a fact about a fruit or veggie and its nutrients, and is branded with Stutzmans’ logo. Although this appeared during the most popular time for resolutions, the tips are timeless.
