Hicks Nurseries, Long Island’s largest garden center and a sixth-generation family business, will kick off the spring 2020 season with its 30th Annual Flower and Garden Show, March 12-29. This year’s theme will take attendees on a “Celebration Around the World” featuring large scale gardens in full bloom, inspired by iconic festivals worldwide. The show will be open during store hours, Monday-Thursday 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Friday 8 a.m. -7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Admission and parking are free.
All seminars are free. Reservations are not required.

Plant a Pea Seed
Saturday and Sunday March 14, 15, 21, 22, 28 and 29. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. All children under the age of 12 are invited to plant their own snap pea seed. Let it sprout indoors and then plant it outdoors. This event is FREE.
After School Plant Detectives
Monday-Friday March 16-20 and March 23-27, 3:30 p.m.-5 p.m.
Youngsters will have a blast exploring the gardens for unique plants and garden ornaments during a scavenger hunt. Pick up your game sheets at the Children’s Planting Station. (Recommended for ages 7-12) This event is FREE.
